James Bond Jr.

Back in the day, I used to really like James Bond Jr. I don't know if it was his English accent or his tight jeans that did it, but I never missed an episode of this show back when it aired on Cartoon Network (and syndication before that).

One of the things that I didn't realize as a kid was how 007 was supposed to be his "uncle" even though he's named James Bond Jr. That seems like a odd thing to do, but it makes sense. James Bond probably has kids all over the place but he could never be a father to them so he just pretends to be the kids' uncle so that he can still be around them but not be a father to them.

With that bit of overanalysis over, enjoy a couple of James Bond Jr. clips. The first one is the intro and the second one is a fan-made video set to "Die Another Day."

Artist Spotlight: You Takashina

You Takashina is an artist who has done illustrations for several BL (yaoi) novels. I don't know much about this artist but I do know that this person's artwork is just beautiful. Here's hoping that some of these novels eventually come to the U.S.

Here are a few of this artist's illustrations:

Sephiroth Made "Real"

Despite all appearances, the pic above is not of a real person. It's actually a model of Final Fantasy VII bad guy Sephiroth from a exhibition in Japan a while back. I guess this sort of refutes the whole "they'd never look good in real life" argument.

Don't think that this post heralds the beginning of an era where I'll post guys cosplaying or something like that. This is as "real" as HFG will ever get. Check out a bunch more pics below.

Dirty, Dirty Thoughts

I was going to do a post featuring artwork from the manga and anime series Princess Princess when I came upon the piece above and decided to showcase it all by itself. Every time I look at it, I hope that it inspired some good fan fiction.

The piece was illustrated by the show's character designer Atsuko Nakajima. I'm liking her artwork more and more.

SNK Guys

I've always liked the art from the various SNK fighting games. While Street Fighter was more popular, I think games like King of Fighters and Fatal Fury had better character designs.

Here is a smattering of artwork from a variety of SNK games. Look for more in a future post.

Ultimate Human Torch

Here are some scans of the Ultimate version of Johnny Storm as done by Greg Land. Thanks to Jay at Shirtless Superheroes for sending these my way.

JLA 20

Is it just me or does The Flash look hot in every comic book except his own title? Wally looked pretty beefy and muscular in Nightwing and appeared naked in the first issue of the new Titans series. Now, there is some nice artwork of him in the newest issue of Justice League of America.

The artwork in this issue (which is pretty fun to read, by the way) is by Ethan Van Sciver as opposed to regular artist Ed Benes.

Here are a few pics from the issue:

X-Men Go Manga

A while back, Marvel Comics and Del Rey announced that they were working on two new English-language manga takes on the X-Men. Now, the first artwork from these works have surfaced.

The first title is a shounen ("boys") manga title dealing with Wolverine.

The other title is a shoujo ("girls") title with Kitty Pryde being the only girl at Professor Xavier's school.

Even though they didn't get Japanese artists to do the artwork for these titles, I like it. It's certainly a unique take on the characters.

Also, this character sketch from the shoujo X-Men title doesn't exactly fit HFG's mold but it's too funny not to post. It's interesting that they took this character this way instead of making him a big cat/dog boy...

Code Geass Returns

The second season of Code Geass has recently starting airing in Japan. With that, I've decided to post some more artwork from the series. The final two pics were done by CLAMP for the second season's ending theme and they are courtesy of Saa-chan at cuppy-cake.net.
