Artist Spotlight: Joe Jusko 90's Flashback

 
Today's post is a trip back to the early 1990's with Joe Jusko, an artist whose artwork has been featured here before.  Marvel Masterpieces was a series of trading cards with art by Jusko.  The artwork was collected in a collection of books called The Marvel Masterpieces Collection, which is where the pics in today's post come from.

Dat Spider-Man: A Micropost

Today's post is a single scan from Avenging Spider-Man #5.  Leinil Francis Yu provides the art.  It has to be a coincidence that the final line from the preceding page is Peter saying "What's everyone looking at?"  Right?

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is a video game where you get to play as four different versions of Spider-Man: Amazing, Ultimate, Noir, and 2099. Today's post features various artwork from this game direct from the official website's fansite kit.

Apart from the various different versions of Spider-Man, there is also some art of other characters including Kraven the Hunter and good ole Deadpool. I only wish there was some artwork of what each of the Spider-Mans look like unmasked. The game is out now for every major system.

Assault on New Olympus

Assault on New Olympus is a one-shot featuring The Incredible Hercules and Spider-Man.  I haven't read any of The Incredible Hercules before but after reading this, I want to.  I definitely like Marvel's portrayal of the mythical hero.

Spider-Man: Clone Saga

The Clone Saga was a notorious Spider-Man story arc that's the poster child for bad story decisions driven by money and marketing.  It's interesting, then, that Marvel has decided to reimagine it.  Spider-Man: Clone Saga is a limited-series (set for six issues) that tells the story the way it "should" have been. 

My only experience with the Clone Saga storyline was through the animated series, so it's been fun to read the new series.  Of course, any excuse for there to be more than one Peter Parker is motivation enough for me to check it out.

The scans in today's post come from the first two issues of the series and feature pencils by Todd Nauck.

 

 

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is a series that ran from October 2005-October 2007. The title is a play on what Spidey ironically called himself.

Artist Spotlight: Marco Checchetto

 Today's Artist Spotlight was initially not going to be an Artist Spotlight post.  I was going to do a post featuring artwork from the comic series Squadron Supreme.

The latest volume of that series is where I first saw artwork by Marco Checchetto.  As I was doing the Squadron Supreme post, I found some other artwork that I liked and decided to turn it into an Artist Spotlight instead.

Checchetto hails from Italy and has been doing professional artwork since 2002.  In addition to Squadron Supreme, he has other projects including an Italian version of Spider-Man.
