New Thundercats

In 2011, Cartoon Network premiered a new version of Thundercats.  This reboot made a few notable changes.  Thundera became a kingdom on Third Earth instead of its own planet.  Lion-O and Tygra became (step)brothers with a competitive streak. It also adopted more of an anime look.  The original show was animated in Japan and so is the new show.

Whether or not you were a fan of the original, the new version is definitely worth watching.  Check out some more art and screencaps below.  Some pics come from the great Thundercats fan site Thundercats.ws

More Thundercats

I think it's time I revisted the Thundercats with another post.  The pics in today's post come from the miniseries Thundercats: Dogs Of War.  It's the sequel to Thundercats: The Return, which was featured in the previous Thundercats post.

Dogs of War takes place 15 years after The Return and finds an older, graying Lion-O thinking about stepping down.  He's aged quicker than the other Thundercats for reasons that aren't really revealed until the very end of the series.  The estranged Wilykat comes back to warn them of a new enemy who are...wait for it...dogs.

Anyway, it's a fun read with pencils by Brett Booth (with some help by Joe Prado in issue #3) and some humor.  More art is below.

Thundercats

I'm a child of the 1980's, so I grew up watching Thundercats as a kid. I still enjoyed the show when I saw it again later in life and in college, when I bought comics regularly, I bought quite a few of the Thundercats ones from Wildstorm.

I always liked the look of the second, darker miniseries Thundercats: The Return and when I revisited my comic books, I realized that Ed Benes did the pencils for this series.

So, here are a few scans (not mine) mostly featuring Lion-O and a buff, grown-up Wiley-Kat.
