Street Fighter Tribute

What happens when you ask artists from all over the world for their Street Fighter artwork?  You get Street Fighter Tribute, an artbook released by Udon Entertainment.  It's filled with a bunch of awesome artwork of Street Fighter characters in a variety of art styles.  Below you'll find a few scans relevant to this site (with the artist info left intact).

Flash Gordon

Flash Gordon is a character that's been around for a long time.  However, I'm enjoying the latest incarnation of the character in the new comic series from Ardden Entertainment.  I especially like the look of the comic, which features art by Paul Green.  You can see many influences in it but it still looks fresh.

New Banner

The reign of HFG's first banner has ended and it's time for a new one.  This month's winner is Ravenfear who sent not one or two but four awesome banners for the contest.

It was tough but I like the way the guy is lying on his side in the one I chose:

 

This banner looks to have Dark from DNAngel in the background and a guy drawn by Mikiyo Tsuda/Taishi Zaou in the foreground.

Reborn! For The Fifth Time

I sometimes wonder if I do too many posts for the same properties.  I don't want to post every single piece of art out there but at the same time, some properties have fresh art coming out all the time. 

Reborn!, the subject of this post, is a good example of this.  This is the fifth post with art from the anime/manga series but there's still so much that could be posted.  Odds are that there will eventually be a sixth post too.

The Guys of Dynasty/Samurai Warriors Part Two

Attractive guys, some with mustaches, in ornate costumes?  It must be the second installment of guys from the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors games.  Once again, it's a nice mix of CG and illustrated artwork.

The Evolution of Chris Redfield

With the release of Resident Evil 5 this week, Game Trailers has decided to take a trip down memory lane with the game's hot lead character, Chris Redfield.  The video below features clips of Chris from every RE game he's been in, right up to RE5.  As the games get newer, Chris seems to get hotter.  Long live technology!

Skaar and Silver Surfer

There's an interesting storyline in Skaar: Son of Hulk right now that features the Silver Surfer.   I know there's probably something I could say about how the two of them contrast physically but I can't think of anything.  Instead, let's enjoy these scans from issues 7 and 8.

 

  

 

The Prince of Tennis

The Prince of Tennis, the popular manga and anime franchise created by Takeshi Konomi, almost seems like the product of a "What if?" conversation:  What if you made a sports manga where every single guy on every single team had a bishie look to him? 

The story of Prince of Tennis is almost a moot point.  This series exists solely to have attractive guys play tennis against one another.  I'm not saying it's a bad thing, though.

There is a TON of artwork from this series out there.  This particular post is made up entirely of group shots and primarily features artwork from the anime.

If you're interested in checking out this series, the manga and anime are both available from Viz Media (although it looks like the anime version's release is on hold).  The original manga ended a while back but a new manga series just recently started in Japan.  If they in turn make a new anime series out of it, then there will be no shortage of artwork for years to come.
