War of Kings: Darkhawk

War of Kings: Darkhawk is a two-issue limited series that's a companion series to Marvel's whole War of Kings storyline.  I don't much about the character Darkhawk but I do know that I enjoyed reading this series for some reason.  The pencils for the series were done by Harvey Tolibao and Brandon Peterson did the cover at the end of the post..

 

  

  

 

Back To Gakuen Heaven

It's been a little over a year since the last Gakuen Heaven post on HFG.  This means that it's a good time to revisit it.  While the previous posts focused on the game artwork, this post mostly features artwork from the mangas based on the game by You Higuri. 

As far as I know, there are three different mangas:  Gakuen Heaven, Gakuen Heaven: Closer to You, and Gakuen Heaven: Calling You.  The first title is available now from Blu.  The second title should be available later this year and I have no idea if the third one is even licensed.

The Guys of Suikoden Tierkreis

It's time to revisit the world of Suikoden with some artwork from the latest game, Suikdoen Tierkreis for the Nintendo DS.  Like the other games, this one has a ton of characters which means a nice variety in designs. Static

It's nice to see Static as a member of the Teen Titans.  I've liked the character ever since seeing the Static Shock TV show.  I don't have any art from his original Milestone comic series, but I do have some nice scans from the Teen Titans Annual 2009, including a shirtless encounter with "Cyborg." 

 

 

Skip Beat

Skip Beat is a shoujo manga series by Yoshiki Nakamura about a girl named Kyoko Mogami.  She works hard to help her childhood friend Sho become a pop idol before finding out that he's really just using her as a maid and to earn living expenses.  Heartbroken and angry, Kyoko vows to get revenge on Sho by going into show business herself and becoming better than him.

I've never read the manga but I love the recently ended anime.  Kyoko is probably one of my favorite shoujo heroines.  However, this post only contains art from the manga.  I'll have to do some searching for some anime art (apart from screencaps) for a later post. 

The Skip Beat manga is available in America from Viz while the as-of-yet unlicensed anime can be viewed online at Crunchyroll.

Battle For The Cowl

Even though they no longer have their own titles, Dick Grayson and Tim Drake are still quite hot as evidenced by the first issue of Battle For The Cowl.  Tony Daniel does a nice job with the art (and story too) and even manages to include some shirtless Dick.  Below, you'll find some scans.

 

 

Introducing Bonus Archives

When I decided to put up zip files of some of the images here on HFG, I thought about making archives for older posts.  I now realize that I will not have the time to do that for all the old posts.  So, I've decided to do some bonus archives.  These will be archives of either older images on the site or stuff that hasn't been posted.

The archives will be linked on the site for a limited time.  The very first Bonus Archive is an "Anti-April Fools" archive with pics that are the opposite of the April 1st "trap" post.  You can find the link in the sidebar.  If you have a request for an older post you'd like to see archived, let me know.

Hot Fictional...Guys?

It's April Fools Day and after not doing anything interesting last year, I figured I'd do something fun this time around.

Today's post deals with the anime/manga phenomenon known as the "trap."  A trap is a male character who looks just like a woman (and the reverse trap is a female character who looks just like a man).


The pictures below feature such "traps."  However, two of the pics have female characters in them.  If you're an anime/manga fan, this will probably be easy but if you're not, I encourage you to see if you can figure out which characters aren't male.

Both of the pics above have male characters.  The one on the left is Bridget from Guilty Gear and the one on the right is Cecil from FFIV

  

This is the first pic with a female character.  This screenshot comes from Gundam 00.  The character in the foreground is Kati Mannequin, the female character.  The guy in the background is Billy Katagiri.

  

The pic on the left has Momiji and Haru from Fruits Basket (both males).  The pic on the right is the second pic of a female character.  She is Integral Hellsing from Hellsing (and a badass character, frankly).

  

This pic above is from Gundam 00 and features Tieria and Ribbons, who are both male (more or less).

 

Finally, here are the three guys from Princess Princess actually dressed up as...princesses.
