Hakuoki: Shinsengumi Kitan

Hakuoki: Shinsengumi Kitan is an otome game from the same company as Hiiro no Kakera.  Similar to Peacemaker Kurogane, this game deals with the legendary Shinsengumi.  Below, you'll find some more character art from the game.

Saiyuki in Black and White

Most of the manga pics on HFG are in color, so I decided to try something different and do a post with only monochrome pics.  Today's post features only B&W pics from the Saiyuki mangas.  Look for a couple more black-and-white only posts (featuring other manga/artists) in the future.

[Blogger's note:  I'm feeling better, so posting should be back to a more normal schedule.]

Yamane Ayano Does Slam Dunk

Before they get signed and make their own work, a lot of manga creators start off making doujinshi.  Doujinshi is essentially fan-created or indie manga.  While some doujinshi is original, most of it is fan work based on popular properties.  It's pretty much a semi-accepted practice.  Some manga creators (like Taishi Zaou) still create doujinshis in addition to their professional work.

I've been debating about whether or not to post doujinshi (because of my aversion to posting fan art).  Today's post is sort of a test/experiment.  It's doujinshi fan art by a creator whose work has been posted here before.

The artist in question is the great Yamane Ayano, the creator of the popular Viewfinder and Crimson Spell mangas.  A few years ago, she did doujinshis featuring the characters of Takehiko Inoue's sports manga Slam Dunk.  In fact, she did a whole artbook of her take on the Slam Dunk characters called Fifteen.  Although I wouldn't realize it until much later, the very first piece of artwork I ever encountered by Yamane Ayano was one of those Slam Dunk pictures (it's the piece of art above).

Below, you'll find a few more pieces of artwork by Yamane Ayano followed by some artwork from Takehiko Inoue's original manga for comparison.

Darkness Returns

Time for some more art of Jackie Estacado, the hot wielder of The Darkness.  The artwork featured in this post comes from the first run of the series.

More Natsume Yuujinchou

It's time to revisit Natsume and his "book of friends."  The original post featured only anime artwork.  This time around, I'm including art from the original manga as well as anime art.
